M3 - Survey/interview feedback report

M3- Justify audio and visual effects

S media has asked us to create an advertisement based around a technology or fashion product. We chose to base our advertisement around the Powerbeats Pro earphones by Beats (who are now owned by Apple). We are targeting aspirers, males and females aged 18-50. I filmed the advertisement with my group. We filmed in Isaac's house, a bus stop and in a library (we did get a model release form so we had permission). Afterwards, I I have created a Google Forms survey to receive feedback on what is good and what I can improve on for the Powerbeats Pro advertisement I have created. I will review the feedback and I will make changes to fix any issues; this will help my advertisement be more successful.

In the survey 60% of people would buy the earphones after viewing this advertisement. The responses say that the advertisement is very successful in promoting the Powerbeats Pro earphones. Furthermore, the responses say that they like the editing, shots, the phone screen recording of the Beats app, the theme of being able to study with the earphones and the dubbed monologue. There are lots of positives here.

To improve, the responses say that I could add some music for the beginning of the advert, the inner monologue voiceover should be quieter (maybe it isn’t even necessary to include the voiceovers) and the pace could be quicker. Furthermore, two of the responses say to cut down the advert further and keep it consistent to make it look more professional.

To improve on these responses, I will add some sad music in the beginning of the advert in post production. This will show how the character is having a bad day without having to say it, therefore I wouldn’t need the voiceover. The music could be slower than the faster more upbeat music near the end of the advert, this will help me to improve on the pace of the advert and this shows how the earphones improves the mood and productivity of the target audience. I will cut my advert down more to the pace.

Here you can see that the responses believe that the Powerbeats Pro advertisement is edited together well, the effects are successful and the graphic (such as the end of the advert image) helps to promote the earphones.

Again, you can see that the pace is too slow, and I need to speed it up. Most people believe the narrative is interesting and the music makes them think of the earphones.

To conclude, the Powerbeats Pro advert promotes the earphones effectively. The advert has been edited well, my graphics are effective (I created a graphic at the end of the advert to show the earphones in the case, the price, what stores you can buy them from), the narrative is clear, the camera shots are professional and ¾ of the responses say that they would buy the earphones after watching the advert. This impacts my advert in a positive way, I have followed codes and conventions to create a professional advert you would see in the real world.

I need to improve the pace of the advert, add some music in throughout, then either remove the voiceover or make it quieter if I do decide to use it. I will cut the advert down more to fit the pace of the music and to make sure it looks more professional. This will all be done in post-production, I will edit the advertisement to make these changes. By doing this, I will create a more professional and effective advertisement.
